In July 2020, after moving from Tokyo to Atami, I witnessed this sunrise from my room for the very first time.
The light rose quietly over the sea, stretching straight across the water.
I was deeply moved and left speechless by its beauty.
Having just ended a long career as a company employee and started a new chapter of life, this scene felt like more than a sunrise.
It felt like the first light guiding the road ahead.
I painted this memory on a 100-size canvas so I would never forget that moment.
This work, “First Light,” is scheduled to be submitted to the Shin Bijutsu Exhibition this summer.
